Chevron Appalachia plans $630,000 investment in ShaleNet programs

Chevron Appalachia plans to invest $630,00 in ShaleNET education programs that are available at four community and technical colleges in Ohio, Pennsylvania and West Virginia, according to The Youngstown Business Journal.

Over the last four years, the company has invested more than $2.1 million in programs focused on workforce development in energy and manufacturing. The ShaleNET programs are available at Stark State College in Ohio, Westmorland Community College and Pennsylvania College of Technology in Pennsylvania, and Pierpont Community and Technical College in West Virginia.

The latest funding from Chevron Appalachia includes include a $155,517 grant to Pierpont for scholarships for full- and part-time students enrolled in the petroleum technology and applied process technology program; a 150,302 grant to Pennsylvania College of Technology to support scholarships and a career counseling position; a $212,000 grant to Westmorland for advanced industry equipment used for training; and $118,269 to Stark State for student scholarships and the acquisition of new equipment.
