Fracking Wastewater Transported to NC’s Coast?

North Carolina is another state on the oil and gas industry’s radar, according to the Charlotte Observer.
North Carolina banned deep injection wells forty years ago, but lawmakers are reconsidering the ban, hoping to bring the money associated with fracturing and deep-injection wells to the state.
The debate has moved to the coastal communities.

“This time, the proposal is shifting the fracking debate from the center of the state, where the energy exploration and economic benefits would occur, to tourism-dependent coastal communities where the disposal wells would have to be drilled.”
Injecting waste water into ground in the center of the state isn’t feasible due to North Carolina’s geology. Eastern North Carolina, however, has a geology that is more receptive to the waste.
