Landowners should know the facts before signing a pipeline easement

According to Canton Repository, a pipeline will cross through Stark County in a few years, and landowners have a say in how the pipeline will affect their property.

Attorneys who specialize in oil and gas issues warn landowners to be cautious when dealing with pipeline leases. Landowners should know the value of their land before pipeline construction, as well as the estimated value of their land after the pipeline is in place before signing an easement.

Some of the questions to ask before signing a pipeline lease pertain to: the materials that the pipeline will transport, the length and diameter of the pipeline and the pressure of the pipeline’s contents.
