With plans to focus on other oil and natural gas drilling regions, Nobel Energy will sell its assets in West Virginia and southern Pennsylvania for $1.2 billion, according to The Intelligencer.

The company didn’t identify the buyer of the West Virginia assets. The deal includes current natural gas production of about 415 million cubic feet per day and 385,000 total acres.

Since entering the Marcellus and Utica shale plays, Nobel has been one of the most active drillers in Marshall County, West Virginia. Other firms with significant operations in the area include Southwestern Energy, Chevron, Statoil and EQT Corp.

I don’t understand why your Marcellus & Utica Shale Well Map does not show any activity in PA.

The Ohio Department of Natural Resources provides all the information we use to generate our map. We haven’t been able to find a similar resource to pull well addresses from in Pennsylvania. Do you know of one we can use to add those wells?
