Ohio benefitting from wet gas

Due to the growing number of horizontal wells, Ohio’s natural gas production in the Utica shale increased twofold in 2013.
According to Midwest Energy News, the Utica shale produces “wet gas” that contains methane and several other compounds that can be used for as a raw material for fertilizer, fuel and various products. More steps are involved in getting wet gas to a usable state. Pipelines are used to transport the products to storage facilities and to railroad lines for shipment.
Environmentalists, however, are concerned with how quickly the Ohio Department of Natural Resources permit process is now, especially since the ODNR anticipates giving out many more drilling permits in 2014 and 2015.
