Ohio EPA asks Rover to halt drilling again

The Ohio Environmental Protection Agency recently cited the Rover Pipeline for its 19th environmental violation since construction started, according to the Times Reporter. The EPA requested that horizontal boring be paused after 200 gallons of clay-based drilling slurry spilled into the Black Fork Mohican River in Ashland County on November 16.
Following the EPA’s request to the Rover Pipeline for it to pause boring and plans to prevent and clean up spills, Rover spokeswoman Vicki Anderson Granado said the pipeline is in compliance with plans approved by Federal Energy Regulatory Commission and EPA.
Texas-based Energy Transfer is building the $4.2 billion Rover project across 18 Ohio counties. When completed, the pipeline system will carry 3.25 billion cubic feet of natural gas a day from the Utica and Marcellus shale plays.
