As Bernie Sanders is starting to emerge as an early front-runner to get the Democratic nomination for president, the spotlight is back on fracking, or more specifically, the potential for a national fracking ban, according to The Meadville Tribune.

In January, Sanders and U.S. Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., introduced bills in Congress that would ban fracking nationally by 2025. As Sanders gains success in the primaries, concerns over the feasibility of such a ban are rising, especially in Pennsylvania — the nation’s second-largest natural gas producer.

Dave Spigelmyer, president of the Marcellus Shale Coalition, pointed to U.S. Chamber of Commerce data that suggested a fracking ban would cost 600,000 jobs in Pennsylvania.
