Rex Energy plans to drill 12 Utica Shale wells in Carroll County this year, according to the Canton Repository.

Rex originally planned to drill five wells in Carrol, but a new financing agreement made it possible for it to accelerate its plans and implement an expanded drilling program. The additional seven wells will be drilled from the existing Jenkins and Goebeler pads, where Rex has seen a strong production of condensate.

The company plans to start drilling in Carroll in the later half of the year. Most of the new wells will begin production in early 2018.
