Last week, a minor earthquake was detected near Hilcorp Energy horizontal shale wells in Lawrence County, Pennsylvania, west of New Castle. Hilcorp suspended fracking there.

The Business Journal reports that U.S. Geological Survey data shows five small earthquakes detected on April 25 in Mahoning Township. All five of the earthquakes measured under 2.0 on the Richter scale.

The Department of Environmental Protection is investigating the cause of the earthquakes and whether or not they are related to the nearby shale well drilling, according to the source.
