Pennsylvania lawmakers are calling for statewide action to stop drilling on the Mariner East 2 pipeline, following Sunoco a series of spills in Chester County, according to West Chester Patch.

According to a statement from Sunoco, drilling was stopped after the most recent spill in East Goshen; however, no drinking water was contaminated. The drilling fluid was contained and cleaned up.

Despite the rapid response, the recent rash of spills has residents and environmentalists concerned about pipeline construction moving forward.

Incidentally, this is not the first spill connected to pipeline construction. In July public drinking water was contaminated and drilling was put on hold until Aug. 9.
