Washington, Greene counties lead Pa. natural gas producers

Washington and Greene counties have been leading drilling and natural gas production in Pennsylvania, according to a report from the Pennsylvania Independent Fiscal Office.

The natural gas production reports for 2016 and 2017, show Washington was the first of the 67 counties in the state in the number of gas-producing wells both years at 1,200 in 2016 and 1,370 in 2017.

Washington was also second in natural gas production both years with 838.7 billion cubic feet equivalent in 2016 and 945.5 bcfe in 2017. Susquehanna County was fist both years with 1,210.8 and 1,304.9 bcfe respectively.

Both years, Greene County was fourth with 764 wells and 691.4 bcfe in 2016 and 857 wells and 658.1 bcfe in 2017.
