UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Natural gas pipeline projects and trends, as well as recent and pending legislation affecting pipelines, will be the subject of an Internet-based seminar presented by Penn State Extension.

Offered from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 17, “Pennsylvania Natural Gas Pipeline Roundup” will feature extension educator Dave Messersmith, an expert on gas pipeline development and midstream infrastructure, who has spoken on the subject nationally and internationally.

The webinar will cover some of the major transmission line projects in Pennsylvania, explore recommendations from the 2012 Pipeline Placement Report authorized by Act 13 of the state Legislature, and examine the Pipeline Safety Act and proposed Senate bills dealing with pipelines.

“As production has grown exponentially over the past few years, getting natural gas to market is a key concern,” said Messersmith. “Pipeline construction across the commonwealth is likely to continue at a rapid pace for the next several years. Now is the time, as this infrastructure build-out is taking place, to get it right.”

This webinar is one of a series of 60-minute sessions presented by Penn State Extension’s Marcellus Education Team at 1 p.m. on Thursdays.
