The Youngstown Vindicator examined Ben Lupo’s past and published the results on Sunday. According to the Vindicator, Lupo has a history of brine dumping that stretches back to the 1970s.
1994: Lupo faced public backlash for burying brine-laden dirt in Warren.
March 1983 : A Vindicator photographer took pictures of a tanker truck dumping a load of orange liquid into a pit. The truck was operated by Universal Energy Services, owned by Lupo.
1978 : A petition signed by Ellsworth, Ohio, residents, demanded that United Patroleum and Ben Lupo Well Services be prevented from operating in Ellsworth. The petition listed odor, noise, dust, mud, smoke and fire hazards on the property as a hazard to public well-being.
Lupo was recently charged for illegally dumping shale gas waste water down a storm drain.
