Aubrey McClendon, the former chairman and CEO of Chesapeake Energy Co., has put his attention back on Ohio’s Utica shale, according to the Columbus Dispatch.
After stepping down as Chesapeake’s CEO early this year, McClendon launched a new venture: American Energy Partners.
According to the company’s website, American Energy Partners, “Represents a creative new approach for a rapidly changing industry. We’re built to be opportunistic and bold.”
So what’s the card in McClendon’s hand? Getting back into the Utica shale. Guernsey, Belmont, Harrison and Noble counties are all on AEP’s radar.
Upstream newspaper, a trade publication, broke the story on August 16.
