Vera Scroggins, an anti-fracking activist, is barred from 312.5 sq miles of Pennsylvania land, including a new county hospital, a Chinese restaurant, a supermarket, a bowling alley and her local recycling center, because of a court order — according to The Guardian.
The court order bans Scroggins from any property owned or leased by Cabot Oil & Gas Corporation in Susquehanna County, Pennsylvania.
According to The Guardian, on October 21, the case of Cabot v. Scroggins ended with the judge granting the company a temporary injunction barring Scroggins from any property owned or leased by Cabot.
Court filings revealed that Cabot leases some 200,000 acres of land in the area where Scroggins lives.
Court filings from Cabot don’t accuse Scroggins of any violence. She’s never been arrested for trespassing. Susquehana County district attorney, Jason Legg, admitted that none of her activities were illegal.
Scroggins has been very busy, however.
Read it:
“She has visited frack sites – posting up to 500 videos on YouTube. She has called in health and environmental regulators at perceived violations, and she has organised bus tours of frack sites for anyone who is interested – from Yoko Ono and Susan Sarandon to visiting Canadian elected officials.”
Cabot is offering to limit the scope of its exclusion order, but that hearing isn’t until March 24.
