Shale boom impacts many businesses, even mulch

The shale industry has impacted various other industries and businesses, even ones that don’t seem like they’re related to oil and gas. Pittsburgh Post-Gazette PowerSource reports that Eric Vaccarello’s companies are thriving along with the oil and gas boom.

Vaccarello’s companies — Land Clearing Specialists Inc., Wood Waste Recycling and Absolute Reclamation Services — provide the services needed for oil and gas companies. While land is being cleared, Vaccarello’s team hauls away trees and shrubbery and recycles them into mulch. This mulch is then used for site remediation as well as land reclamation. Some of the companies he clears land for are Consol Energy, Range Resources and MarkWest Energy Partners Inc.

From Pittsburgh Post-Gazette PowerSource:

“About half of the 600 total jobs finished by his land clearing company in the last year came from the gas industry and mostly involved drilling sites that are usually about 15 acres and take two weeks to clear.”
