After obtaining two new easement agreements, Sunoco Pipeline L.P. will continue its plan to replace pipeline that runs through Mill Creek MetroParks property and Hitchcock Woods.

The Vindicator reports that Sunoco is replacing 6-inch diameter pipe with 12-inch diameter pipeline. The pipeline is being replaced as part of the Alleghany Access Project, which will bring refined products from the Midwest to Ohio and western Pennsylvania.

Sunoco had existing agreements with Mill Creek MetroParks from 1967, as well as an agreement with Mahoning County from 1930. The company had to obtain the two near agreements in order to work on Hitchcock Woods property.

Sunoco will compensate the park system for any disruptions to park facilities or impacts to the environment. So far, Sunoco has paid the park system $250,000, mostly for environmental impacts.
