The partnership building the Atlantic Coast Pipeline has ordered $400 million worth of steel pipe from Dura-Bond Industries, located in Pennsylvania’s Westmoreland County, Pittsburgh Business Times reports.
The pipe ordered ranges in size from 30 inches to 42 inches in outside diameter. Production is expected to start in late 2015 through March 2017. The Atlantic Coast Pipeline will span 550 miles from West Virginia through Virginia and into North Carolina. Construction will commence in 2016, depending upon regulatory approval.
This pipeline order is one example of how local business will affect the local economy in the Marcellus Shale.
