According to The State Journal, plans are underway for Energy Solutions Consortium, LLC to build two natural gas-fired power plants in Beech Bottom, West Virginia.
One of the plants will service the Windsor High Voltage substation. The other power plant will serve the Tidd High Voltage substation in Brilliant, Ohio, across the Ohio River. The company will have to apply for permits for these two projects, then turn the property title over to Brooke County Commission under payment in lieu of taxes, or PILOT agreement.
The natural gas-fired power plants will provide energy production lost when the EPA shut down coal-fired power plants. The two new power plants will have to compete with other companies in the 13-state power grid, PJM.
