XTO Energy Inc. has plans to double the size of its cryogenic plant in Butler County, Pennsylvania, according to The Business Journal. A cryogenic plant processes natural gas and condenses it to a liquid state using low temperatures. The gas is then shipped after processing.
The expansion of the Penn Cryo facility would allow XTO to process 125 million cubic feet of natural gas per day. The plant is located about 45 miles southeast of the Mahoning County, Ohio line.
In order to expand, a process heater, a backup process heater, process storage tanks, a gas processing plant and new roadways must be attained.
