According to Pittsburgh Tribune-Review, Range Resources Corp. will lay off 55 of its workers, 31 of which work in Washington County, Pennsylvania.
Range is the fourth-largest natural gas driller in Pennsylvania. The company cut spending last year, sold its Virginia gas operations and reported a third quarter loss in 2015, according to the newspaper. The cuts are intended to put the company in a better position once prices recover.
Range isn’t the only shale producer making cuts; Cabot Oil & Gas is scaling back on capital spending this year and Southwestern Energy cut 40 percent of its workforce.
