Citing a lack of regulations for fracking in some areas, Democratic Party presidential candidate nomination Hillary Clinton says she opposes fracking. Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders, the other Democratic presidential candidate, also opposes the practice.
At a debate held in Flint, Michigan, March 6, Clinton and Sanders addressed their views on fracking, UPI reports. Flint has experienced lead-contaminated water since the city’s water supply was switched from the Great Lakes to the Flint River in 2014. Corrosive pipes leached lead into the water supply.
Vermont was the first state to ban fracking, and New York banned fracking in 2014.
