A natural gas-fired electric power plant is in the works in Pickaway County in central Ohio.
According to Circleville Herald, NTE Energy hopes to have the Pickaway Energy Center under construction by 2018. The power plant would generate 1,000 megawatts, which is enough to power 900,000 homes.
Before NTE can move forward with the proposed project, it has to submit an application with PJM (Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Maryland), obtain permits from the Ohio Power Siting Board and the Environmental Protection Agency and secure financing from banks. The source reports that there are a number of concerns with the power plant, including some environmental and community questions.
