The Business Journal reports that seven new horizontal drilling permits were issued in Ohio’s Utica shale during the week ended July 23. Sixteen rigs were in operation in the Utica last week, up four from the previous week.
The new Utica permits were issued in Carroll County (three), Monroe County (two), Jefferson County (one) and Belmont County (one).
In Pennsylvania, Hilcorp Energy Co. was issued a permit to drill in the Utica shale in Lawrence County, according to the source.
