The Rayne Xpress Pipeline recently received approval from the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission to begin shipping Marcellus and Utica shale natural gas to the Gulf Coast, according to Kallanish Energy.
The Rayne XPress Pipeline was developed by Columbia Gas Transmission, which is now part of TransCanada. It runs from Rayne, La. north to Leach, Ky. It will work in conjunction with the Leach XPress Pipeline being constructed in southeastern Ohio and northern West Virginia.
Combined the projects will cost $1.8 billion.
