Ascent Resources Utica LLC secures 10 well permits in Oho’s Utica

Although the number of rigs operating in Ohio’s Utica shale fell by two, the Ohio Department of Resources issued 10 permits for horizontal wells to Ascent Resources Utica LLC of Oklahoma City during the week ended Jan. 26, according to The Youngstown Business Journal.

Ascent Resources received eight permits for Guernsey County and two permits for new wells in Jefferson County. During that same period of time, the rig count in Ohio’s Utica Shale dropped from 16 to 14.

As of Jan. 26, the ODNR has issued 2,992 horizontal well permits in the Utica — 2,517 of these wells are drilled and 2,138 wells are in production across the state.
