Although the Energy Information Administration expects natural gas production from the most productive unconventional plays in the Lower 48 U.S. states to rise from November to December, the slight increase is an indicator of a slowdown in the oil and gas industry, according to Kallanish Energy.
The EIA projects production will increase by 263 million cubic feet per day (Mmcf/d) from November to December; however, previous month-to-month increases were projected near 1 billion cubic feet per day (Bcf/d).
Natural gas production will reach 85.19 billion cubic feet per day (Bcf/d) in December, according to the EIA’s recently-released November Drilling Productivity Report. The Appalachian Basin will produce 33.71 Bcft/d next month, up slightly from 33.67 Bcf/d in November.
