EIA: Ohio, Pa. among states to add bulk of natural-gas-fired generation by 2025

Four states will account for close to one-half of the new natural gas-fired generation capacity in the U.S. by 2025, according to Natural Gas Intelligence.
Illinois, Michigan, Ohio and Pennsylvania are on track to gain 43% of gas-fired generation capacity, expected to be around 27.3 GW, to go online between 2022 and 2025, according to the U.S. Energy Information Administration’s latest Monthly Electric Generator Inventory report.
Illinois will add the most capacity at an anticipated 3.8 GW. Michigan is expected to add 3.2 GW, Ohio is expected to add 2.9 GW and Pennsylvania is expected to add 1.9 GW during the same period.
