The U.S. oilfield services and equipment sector added 7,450 jobs in December, according to a report released Jan. 10 by the Energy Workforce & Technology Council.

As a whole, the sector has added 62,289 jobs since February 2021 when it shed roughly 109,000 jobs as a result of the coronavirus pandemic. Pandemic-related losses have resulted in about $5.6 billion in lost annual wages.

The job additions have been led by Texas, which has added nearly 22,000 oilfield jobs in the past year, and Louisiana, which has added 3,757 oilfield jobs in the past year.
