CNX Resources has partnered with Pittsburgh International airport to develop airport property within the Utica shale and reduce local emissions, according to Airport Technology.

Under the agreement, CNX will extract a dry gas from the Utica shale and convert it into liquified natural gas, compressed natural gas and electricity for several uses.

This process is expected to reduce local emissions and reduce operating costs for the airport.

“The strategy also envisions a sustainable fuel hub at PIT utilizing locally sourced, lower-cost, lower-carbon intensity LNG and CNG fueling depots for airlines, transit, cargo, fleet, military and other energy-intensive business purposes,” CNX stated.
