47 shale drilling permits issued in Ohio, Pa., W. Va. during week ended July 17

Forty-seven new permits were issued to drill shale wells in Ohio, Pennsylvania and West Virginia during the week ended July 17, according to Marcellus Drilling News.

Pennsylvania issued 35 new permits from July 11-17. CNX claimed the most permits with seven to drill in Washington County. Olympus Energy received six drilling permits for Westmoreland County.

Ohio issued 11 new drilling permits during the same time period. Ascent Resources and Hillcrop Energy each received four permits to drill in Jefferson County and Columbiana County, respectively.

West Virginia issued one new drilling permit to Southwestern Energy in Ohio County.
