Sixteen new permits were issued to drill shale wells in Ohio, Pennsylvania and West Virginia from Oct. 10 through Oct. 16, according to Marcellus Drilling News.
Pennsylvania issued eight new permits during the week ended Oct. 16 for drilling in the northeastern region of the state. BKV Operating received four permits to drill in Wyoming County, Chesapeake received two permits to drill in Bradford County and Beech Resources received two permits to drill in Lycoming County.
Ohio issued four new permits. Encino Energy claimed all four for drilling in Harrison County.
West Virginia issued four new drilling permits from Oct. 10 through Oct. 16. Tug Hill claimed three permits and Southwestern Energy received one to drill in Marshall County.
