Pennsylvania natural gas production from horizontal wells saw a 0.8% drop during the third quarter when compared to the same period in 2021, according to the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection.
Pennsylvania natural gas production totaled 1.88 Tcf or 20.6 Bcf/d during the third quarter, marking the third straight quarter where output did not rise year-over-year, according to Natural Gas Intelligence. It was also the strongest year-over-year decline in quarterly production since this data started being published in 2015.
Despite the drop in production, 11,119 producing wells were reported in Pennsylvania at the end of the third quarter, which was 4.1% year-over-year increase from 2021.
