Chesapeake Energy accused of cheating landowners out of royalties

Chesapeake Energy has made StateImpact Pennsylvania’s 2014 list of top stories, and that isn’t a good thing.

Interviews with several residents of Bradford County, Pennsylvania, explain how Chesapeake has issued “gathering” fees on royalty payments, resulting in landowners’ receiving monthly royalty payments that are a fraction of what they should receive.

Other problems have been recognized in the Marcellus Shale. Another set of interviews reveals the problems that Lycoming County residents have had with security guards near Marcellus Shale wells. The residents have been stopped and questioned by security guards when they drove by the well locations. Even though the roads are on public land, the security guards can still dictate when residents can drive on them and when they cannot.

Last month our miserably small dividend from Enervest suddenly tripled (still paltry). I wonder if the Chesapeake law-suite inspired them to do something differently???
