Last week the Chester County commissioners appointed a new law firm to handle its case before the Pennsylvania Public Utilities Commission in which the county is seeking to halt construction and operations of two Mariner East gas transmission pipelines, according to Daily Local News.
Curtin & Heefner will be handling Chester County’s case before the PUC, drawing on the resources of attorney Mark Freed. Freed has been a part of the litigation surrounding Sunoco’s pipeline operations in the region for years. He is also a Chester County resident and an elected supervisor in Tredyffrin.
“We are very happy to be working with the county,” Freed said in a brief interview. He said he would begin working with Deputy Attorney General Nicole McCauley Forzato, who was recently confirmed as the county’s Solicitor, soon to prepare for the county’s appearance at the next PUC hearing on the pipeline, which begins Sept. 28.
