Enbridge plans to restore part of damaged pipeline in Ohio

Following an explosion on one of its lines early last week, Enbridge plans to restore southbound natural gas flows on part of its Texas Eastern pipeline in Ohio, according to NASDAQ.
TETCO told customers in a notice last Thursday it was working to return at least one of the undamaged pipes in the area of the blast and increase north-to-south flows there to around 1 bcfd between Jan. 28-30.
The shutdown forced drillers to reduce output in the Marcellus and Utica shales. Last week, total output slipped from 30 billion cubic feet per day (bcfd) to around 29 bcfd.
The explosion injured two people and damaged three homes. It also forced Enbridge to reverse its flow, leaving customers in southern states like Tennessee and Kentucky without a supply.

What is fracking?

In Pennsylvania officials fined Chesapeake Energy $1 million for contaminating ground water with methane. It was determined that the company had not properly cemented it’s boreholes and gas migrated up the well, between rock and into aquifers.
