Pittsburgh Business Times reports that EQT Corp. will suspend natural gas drilling in central Pennsylvania, where the wells’ returns don’t exceed the company’s investments enough to make them operations worthwhile.
The Pittsburgh-based company is also suspending its Upper Devonian shale play operations.
EQT will continue to develop its core Marcellus and Utica acreage. The company’s deep Utica wells have produced encouraging results so far. Despite the cuts in central Pennsylvania, EQT intends to grow in the future.
