According to The Business Journal, increased production in the Marcellus and Upper Devonian Shale plays has prompted MarkWest Energy Partners LP to expand the Keystone processing complex in Butler County, Pa.

One of MarkWest’s partners, Rex Energy, acquired more leaseholds in the Butler Operating Area, which spans a total of eight counties in Pennsylvania and Ohio. MarkWest will build Bluestone III and Bluestone IV plants, which will service Rex Energy and increase the company’s processing capacity.

From The Business Journal:

“The project entails the construction of 40,000 barrels per day of de-ethanization capacity and more than 20,000 barrels per day of additional propane and heavier natural gas fractionation capacity.”
