Aubrey McClendon is under fire again.
The former Chesapeake Energy CEO and founder of American Energy Partners has been charged with conspiring to suppress prices paid for natural gas and oil leases, according to The New York Times.
According to the source, McClendon is accused of creating a conspiracy in which two oil and gas companies agreed not to bid against one another on several leases in northern Oklahoma between late 2007 and early 2012. The indictment was filed in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Oklahoma on March 1. McClendon released a statement that denied the charges filed against him.
Last year, Chesapeake Energy sued McClendon, alleging that he stole confidential data and trade secrets when he was forced to step down from his position in 2013.
