The controversial Keystone XL Pipeline has been passed by the House of Representatives and now awaits the Senate’s approval or disapproval next week, according to The New York Times.
If approved by the Senate, President Obama will have to make a decision on the pipeline, pending formal reviews of the project, including a ruling on the pipeline’s path since it crosses an international border.
The pipeline would originate in Alberta, Canada’s oil fields and travel through Montana and South Dakota, then connect with existing pipeline in Nebraska that transports oil to refineries on the Gulf Coast.
