Unlike two other pipeline projects proposed across Ohio, Kinder Morgan’s Utopia East Pipeline has received little opposition from landowners as about a third of the 900 landowner easements have already been obtained by the company, Akron Beacon Journal reports.
The 210 – 215 mile pipeline will ship about 50,000 barrels of liquid a day, and if two additional pump stations are added, the pipeline could ship 75,000 barrels a day. The newspaper reports that Kinder Morgan has been granted survey access from 98 percent of landowners.
The Utopia East Pipeline will originate in Harrison County, Ohio, and travel westward through Carroll, Tuscarawas, Stark, Wayne, Ashland, Huron, Seneca, Sandusky, Wood, Lucas, Henry and Fulton counties. The pipeline will then connect with an existing pipeline and carry natural gas liquids north into Michigan and to Windsor, Ontario, Canada. The pipeline has not yet received approval from federal and state agencies.
