Map shows significant West Virginia pipeline incidents in recent years

Plans are in the works for two major interstate pipelines that will cross through West Virginia, reports West Virginia Public Broadcasting.
The two pipelines — The Atlantic Coast and the Mountain Valley — will each be 42 inches in diameter and will cross hundreds of miles throughout the state. The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission is reviewing both projects, which, if approved, would go into service in late 2018.
West Virginia Public Broadcasting has put together a map of 19 significant pipeline incidents that have occurred from 2003 to 2014. The map’s details include locations and dates of incidents, involved companies, number of fatalities and injuries, amount of property damage and causes of the incidents.
