ODNR report reveals top drilling locations in Ohio’s Utica Shale

The hottest place for Utica Shale drilling? Londonderry Township in eastern Guernsey County for oil, and Smith Township in Belmont County for natural gas, according to Akron Beacon Journal.

The newspaper states that the Ohio Department of Natural Resources report for the second quarter, the top five oil-producing wells are located in Londonderry Township. Overall, Guernsey County is the top oil-producing county in the state.

Smith Township is home to the Utica’s top five natural gas-producing wells; Belmont County as a whole claims the top 10 natural gas wells in the Utica and is the number one gas-producing county in the state, ousting Carroll County from the lead position.
