According to Cleveland.com and industry sources, a $1.5 billion natural gas pipeline is planned for construction and could be in service by late 2015.

DTE Energy, Enbridge Energy and Spectra Energy are jointly heading the project, which will link Ohio’s natural gas production to customers throughout the Midwest and beyond.

The pipeline, called the Nexus Gas Transmission system, will extend 250 miles from the Cleveland, Ohio, area to Ontario, Canada.

One billion cubic feet of natural gas could pass through the pipeline every day.

Before the project can begin, the pipeline must be approved by the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission.
