The Intelligencer & Wheeling News-Register reports that Belmont County, Ohio’s “Bigfoot” natural gas well is producing impressive results.

The well, owned by Rice Energy, produced two million cubic feet of natural gas over a five month period, worth $8 million. For mineral rights owners who receive 20 percent of royalties, that’s $1.6 million.

Rice Energy has leased thousands of acres of land in Belmont County and is also drilling other wells near the “Bigfoot” well in the Utica Shale.
