State and federal regulators are investigating Shell’s Falcon pipeline for reported issues with the construction of the pipeline, according to Farm and Dairy.

A former Shell employee contacted the Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration in 2019 with allegations that the pipeline may have been built with a defective corrosion coating.

Although PHMSA decided through its investigation that there were no deficiencies in the coatings, Pennsylvania DEP Secretary Patrick McDonnell wrote a letter to the agency stating the investigation was “incomplete” and asked the agency to conduct a more thorough investigation into the allegations.
