For more than a year, a cul-de-sac in Chester County, Pennsylvania has been plagued by sinkholes and construction mishaps related to the Mariner East pipeline project, according to The Philadelphia Inquirer. Last month the company purchased two of these Lisa Drive homes for $400,000 apiece.

The Mariner East 1 was shut down in March 2018 for two months due to sinkholes that prompted Energy Transfer Partners, Sunoco’s parent company, to temporarily relocate five families whose backyards were damaged. The pipeline was again shut down this winter when a  5-foot-wide, 10-foot-deep sinkhole emerged along Lisa Drive. It resumed service April 23.

The district attorneys in both Delaware and Chester counties have launched criminal investigations into Sunoco’s conduct throughout construction due to the mishaps.
