Local and state officials recently joined US Methanol representatives in a groundbreaking ceremony for a new chemical plant in Kanawha County, West Virginia, according to MetroNews.

US Methanol expects it will open its first American facility in mid-2018. Liberty One will be capable of producing 200,000 metric tons of methanol a year. Once it’s complete, approximately 50 full-time positions will be created.

Liberty One will be made out of parts of a deconstructed methanol production plant from Rio De Janerio. Construction of the plant will create 300 temporary jobs.
