According to the Akron Beacon Journal, Gulfport Energy announced it was purchasing 22,000 Utica shale acres from Windsor Ohio LLC. The acres were purchased for about $220 million.
This purchase further strengthens Gulfport’s hold in the Utica shale. The company now holds some 137,000 acres in the Utica.

Gulfport said it is estimating that its Ohio holdings in 2013 will produce up to 22,192 barrels of oil equivalents per day.
The company has reported that its wells are the biggest-producing wells in Ohio’s Utica shale.”
Gulfport currently has the most productive shale well in Ohio.
