According to Pittsburgh Business Times, Consol Energy Inc. plans to include more dry Utica shale wells in its plan for the Pittsburgh International Airport.
Currently, the company’s Federal Aviation Administration environmental assessment only allows for Utica wells on one of the company’s six well pads at the airport. Consol is considering modifying that plan by switching out planned wells in the Upper Devonian. However, the plan is dependent on economics.
At the airport drilling site, a walking rig has been used to drill on one of the well pads. Drilling began in August 2014.
